Alcoblow to remain on Kenyan roads

The High Court has declined to stop the usage of alco-blow breathalyzer introduced by the government to stop drunk driving in a move to curb road accidents.

In her ruling Friday morning, judge Mumbi Ngugi said that lives of Kenyans should be protected by all means adding that drunk driving had claimed many innocent lives.

However, the petitioner has filed a substantive submission on the case scheduled for hearing on March 10th, 2014. The application was filed by Richard Ogenda through his lawyer lawyer Gitobu Imanyara.

Meanwhile, a cross section of Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions following the court ruling.
Some of those who spoke to KBC supported the court ruling saying alco-blow will help in reducing road carnage while others were disappointed arguing that use of alco-blow is killing the Bar and entertainment businesses.
