Sacked driver burns himself to death in employer’s matatu in Nyeri

The things that happen in NYERI!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless this county.

A matatu driver literally set himself on fire and burnt to death inside his former employer's car after being allegedly sacked!

According to Sahara tribune Joseph Karanja, 57, had delivered a new matatu to his employer who resides at the teachers' quarters at Ngooru Secondary school. Apparently, Mr. Karanja had worked as a driver for this particular employer for one and a half years and had been warned on numerous occasions about his reckless driving, but he'd failed to improve. His employer allegedly decided to sack him upon delivery of the new vehicle.

According to reports, the OCPD stated that an hour and a half after the delivery of the vehicle, the principal of the school, whose house is next to that of the teacher, heard a loud explosion then saw a bright light from outside his house. On alerting the neighbors, they managed to put the fire out but then discovered the driver's severely burnt body.

Inside the burnt vehicle, they discovered a petrol container and pesticide which they suspect the driver ingested prior to setting himself on fire.

So sad!
