It's official! Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o is People Magazine's Most Beautiful Person of the year beating other gorgeous ladies like Jennifer Lawrence, Beyonce, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna and many more.
She’s the total Tinseltown package of brains, beauty and heart, so this should come as a no surprise to the world, really, that Lupita Nyong’o has been crowned People magazine’s “Most Beautiful.”
The breakout star of "12 Years a Slave," this year's Best Picture, won an Oscar herself for Best Supporting Actress. She soon after inked a contract with Lancome Paris and constantly lands on "best dressed" lists with every red carpet appearance.
But it's the Kenyan actress' reaction to the new honor that captured her the most. "It was exciting and just a major, major compliment," Nyong'o told People after learning she was gracing this year's cover. "I was happy for all the girls who would see me on it and feel a little more seen," she told People, recalling how she used to equate beauty with the “light skin and long, flowing, straight hair” she saw on TV.
“This is thrilling for all women +
girls everywhere,” Davis tweeted.
“There's a timelessness,
intelligence and regal quality to her that is so rare these days,” influential
stylist Rob Zangardi, whose clients include Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, told The
News.
“Lupita is everything in one, which
is why we’re all so fascinated with her. Talent aside, she’s incredibly
eloquent when she speaks but still seems vulnerable. She has this girl next
door quality but also extraordinary poise,” beauty expert Robert Verdi, a
former host of TV’s “Fashion Police,” told The News.
“And she’s a natural beauty, without
a lot of affectation. There’s something incredibly appealing about authentic
beauty,” he said.
Congratulations Lupita!
