Kidero walks to work as taxi drivers block off City Hall

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was on Wednesday morning forced to walk to his office after striking taxi operators blocked roads leading to City Hall.

The Governor agreed to meet with five representatives of the taxi operators to discuss the increased parking fee.

The taxi operators had joined their matatu counterparts in protesting against the increased parking fee.

The county government increased the parking fees for taxi operators from Sh2,000 to Sh6,000 per month per vehicle.

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe's Daughter Weds

Zimbabweans celebrated the union of Bona Mugabe, the daughter of the President  of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe and pilot Simba Chikore in a very glamorous wedding that cost a whopping $5,027,400. 

Customary procedures for the marriage were concluded last August when Simba Chikore paid a bride price of US$35,191 plus 15 cows to president Mugabe for the hand of his 24-year-old daughter Bona.

The catholic service and reception which was attended by African heads of State, Foreign dignitaries and billionaires like South African president Jacob Zuma, his Zambian counterpart Michael Sata, DRC’s Joseph Kabila, and Teodore Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of the Equatorial and socialites was held at the First Family's plush private residence in Harare, a suburb of Borrowdale.

The road linking to the residence was beautifully tarred brewing a lot of outbursts from the Zimbabweans as to why other necessary infrastructural projects in Harare have been ignored.

It has emerged that the Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe gave his newly wed daughter and her husband $100,000 (Sh8.6 million) and 55 head of cattle as presents.

Friends and family of a mother of three who had dropped out of school for 10 years yesterday broke into song and dance yesterday after they learnt she scored an A (minus) in the KCSE exam.

Mary Shibachi quit school in February 2002, then a Fourm Four student aged 19, when she discovered she was pregnant while at Museno Secondary School in Khayega, Kakamega county.

U.S Court Defrocks a Kenyan Pastor over Sexual Misconduct

A US based Kenyan pastor who was defrocked following allegations of sexual misconduct will not be reinstated, a Massachusetts court has ruled.

Judge Joseph M Walker III of Middlesex County Superior Court dismissed claims filed by Rev Dr Anthony Karimi Mumbui to counter a suit by the Trustees of the Presbytery of Northern New England (PNNE), seeking to enforce an earlier decision by a special tribunal.

Dr Mumbui had sought to be allowed to resume his duties as the pastor of the Kenyan Community Presbyterian Church in Lowell, Massachusetts.

The court sitting in Boston ruled that evidence adduced indicated that the Presbytery of Northern New England acted within its mandate when it defrocked the pastor in 2010.

Dr Mumbui had moved to court to challenge a decision to strip him of his position as a cleric. He was removed from the pulpit by the PNNE trustees in November 2010 following an ecclesiastical trial which found him guilty of three counts of sexual abuse and sexual malfeasance.

Who Rocked It: Mel B vs Joanna Krupa

 

They are both reality stars. They are both beautiful women. They both have amazing bodies. That's not all they have in common though, Mel B and Joanna Krupa donned this similar grey sequined gown at different post-Oscars parties in Hollywood. Joanna attended the Fame and Philanthropy party in Beverly Hills while Mel B attended Elton John's AIDS Foundation Academy party.

While Mel B's dress showed a bit more skin as it featured cutouts in the thigh area, Joanna opted for more cover-up and less sequins in the waist area. Mel B let her ombre locks down while Joanna went for an exquisite updo.

Billionaire Pays $500K for a date with Kim Kardashian but she storms out!

Kim was paid $500K to be the guest of Richard Lugner, an Austrian businessman who has a history of paying starlets half-a-million to be his arm candy at the Vienna Annual Opera Ball.

Daily Mail reported that she was taking pictures with Lugner when a guy who was working the ball came up to her IN BLACK FACE acting like he was Kanye.  She walked away from the guy, but had to stay another hour and a half since she had been paid.

A short time later another guy came up to Kim and asked her to dance.  She said she wasn't a good dancer, and then the guy responded, he would dance with her if the orchestra played "N*gger in Vienna."....poking fun at Kanye West's song "N*ggers in Paris." It is said that this was the last straw that led Kim to leave the ball.

Kim is saying there were other problems.  She told her people Lugner was aggressive, at times grabbing her and imploring her to lose her security.  She said Lugner was trying to be alone with her.

Lugner just did an interview trashing Kim for not sticking to the program and being so annoying!

Rihanna leaves NOTHING to the imagination

Self proclaimed bad girl Rihanna took her fashion sense a giant step further at a Balmain party in Paris.  

The 26-year-old left nothing to the imagination in a sheer black top with nothing on underneath as she attended the after party of the show during Paris Fashion Week.

Lupita Nyong'o has been working the red carpet this awards season with her striking and sleek ensembles. 

And the 30-year-old actress got in on the crop top trend, showing off several inches of toned tummy at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon at The Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday. 

The 12 Years A Slave star sported a snow white top featuring a mash up of letters and a skirt that ended mid-calf, both of which contrasted strikingly against her dark skin tone. 

She dressed it up with a pair of white pointed toe pumps. 

A white clutch, gold nail polish, gold flower earrings, a ring, and a jewel encrusted headband completed the look.

NAIROBI:2,500 blood relatives working at City Hall

The Nairobi county labour committee is investigating why there are 2500 relatives working at City Hall. 

Last month, the auditors report revealed that 2,500 out of the 11,000 workers are blood relatives. The labor committee has been meeting to probe what factors led to the hiring of blood relatives. The employees audit report revealed that 3,457 workers are also from the same region.

Committee vice chairman Alfred Ambani said they are seeking a solution to the nepotism which casts the county in bad light. “This is not our fault but its something we inherited from the defunct City Council of Nairobi,” he said.

Ambani said 23 per cent is a big number and it is unfair for the county government to operate as one big family enterprise.

The auditors report blamed former ministers of local government, mayors, town clerks and councilors for helping hundreds of their relatives secure jobs at City Hall. The report said most jobs were handed out to relatives without any advertising.

Last week, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero said he is working on sealing all loopholes so that future recruitment can be guided by the policy of meritocracy.

Some 2,000 ghost workers discovered during the head count were among those appearing multiple times in the payroll.

NAKURU:Couple killed child born out of wedlock

A couple has been charged before the High Court in Nakuru with killing their daughter.

Mr Emmanuel Kiprotich Sigei and his wife Irene Nalomita Sigei are accused of killing their daughter Brenda Chepkorir, from Sigeiat Nasitori Village of Narok County on February 6, this year.

The two had been married for two years allegedly schemed to kill the girl who is from a previous relationship.

They have a son together who is six months old.

However, the two who appeared in court while injured told Lady Judge Hellen Omondi could not plead to the offence since they had not undergone mental assessment.

The judge ordered that they be taken to Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital for the test and injuries sustained after they were beaten by villagers.

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp threatens to Suspend Operations In Uganda over Anti Gay Law

It's world news by now that the Ugandan President, signed the famous anti homosexuality bill into law. This has not gone down well for the largest social company in the US,  the sad bit is that most of the apps we use are not home grown and might  have to rely on the innovation from the US.

Today Facebook’s chief operation says the company is disappointed with the decision made and is currently reviewing options including suspending its famous apps from Uganda.

STATEMENT FROM FACEBOOK ON ANTI-HOMOSEXUALITY LAW

When we launched Facebook, we thought of it as a platform to advance people’s rights and liberties of self expression in all forms. We were equally shocked to learn that Uganda as a country has gone ahead to sign the Anti Homosexuality bill into a law.

Facebook is currently reviewing its engagement to Uganda, as we seek to come up with a voice to express our dissatisfaction. And of course, suspending our operations in Uganda is one of the options we are considering. In the event that we suspend operations in Uganda, our platforms of Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp will be off for a time we shall deem necessary.

We strongly condemn the act of the Ugandan Government to overstep the rights of a minority. All humans are created equal and deserve a right to freedom and happiness.

Nigerian Man Arrested for fitting pad-lock to son's mouth to stop him from screaming

A Nigerian father has been arrested after he allegedly padlocked his son's mouth shut to stop him screaming while he battered him to death.

Chris Elvis, 30, allegedly accused four-year-old Godrich of being an 'Ogbanje' or 'child of evil' and blamed him for his bad luck in recent days.

The security guard beat his son, burned him all over his body with a hot iron and then locked him in a plastic drum, according to court documents.

The child's mother called police after returning from the market to find her son's horrific death.

Elvis tried to act mentally ill when he was arrested, but the authorities said his condition was normal, according to International Business Times.

He is being held in custody after being charged with murder.

The charge sheet reads: 'That you, Chris Elvis, on February 10, 2014, about 5pm at 7, Adetola Adelaja street, Meiran Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Godrich Elvis, aged four years by using hot pressing iron to burn him all over his body and putting him inside a plastic drum and locked the drum with padlock and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.'

Paula Patton and Robin Thicke are ending their longtime marriage.

I don't know about you but this has been a long time coming. Robin Thicke has been surrounded with scandal for a while now, with photos of him and other women surfacing online.

The couple, Paula 38 and Robin 36 who have been together for 20 years, but married for 9 years and have a 3 year old son Julian. They broke the news via people and issued a joint statement.

"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," they said.

Despite lewd performances, including Thicke's at last year's MTV VMAs with Miley Cyrus, and rumors of infidelity, Thicke continued to say in 2013 how strong their marriage was. NAIROBI:Priest found dead in guesthouse

An Italian priest who has been serving in Kenya was on Wednesday found dead in his room at the Consolata guesthouse in Westlands.

A 250ml empty bottle of wine and prescription drugs were found lying next to his body, according to police.

The priest, Otto Myers, 70 arrived at the hotel on Monday feeling unwell after returning from a trip in Rumuruti, Laikipia.

He went for treatment at the MP Shah Hospital on Tuesday where he was given the medicine.

On Wednesday morning, he attended a meeting at the Consolata Shrine and returned to his room late afternoon, Kilimani Police OCPD, Peter Katam said.

Mr Katam said the priest’s body was discovered by an employee of the guesthouse who had been sent to check on him after he failed to turn out for dinner.

The employee found the priest’s body under the bed and his clothes were strewn all over the room.

The body has been taken to the MP Shah Hospital mortuary where a post mortem is to be done

Kenya Moore Threatens To Quit ‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’

It's been reported that Kenya Moore is sick of the cattiness on Real Housewives of Atlanta and has revealed that she might be over the drama.

While she’s continued to stand strong, the former Miss America USA revealed she is tired of being the group’s punching bag.

“If Bravo asked me to come back, I’d have to really think about it,” she told OK! Magazine. “Right at this moment, it’s a very tough question.”

“I don’t want you to take that the wrong way, because I’m nobody’s victim and never will be. But at some point you want people to put aside their differences and back you up because it’s the right thing to do,” she said.

Moore added that she’s upset the other RHOA cast mates did not take her side during the nasty fight and couldn’t find a way to be more supportive.

“I will never shrink in the presence of anyone,” she said. “If that is what they would like me to do so they can feel more comfortable around me, it will never happen. You have to just be you and never shrink who you are for anybody,” she said.

Cab driver rapes teen for not paying fare

A Yemeni taxi driver raped a 14-year-old girl in the Arab country after she refused to pay him fare for the ride, a newspaper reported.

The driver was about to drop the girl near a bus station in the eastern Yemeni province of Mahra of when she told him she could not afford to pay him the whole fare.

“He got mad and drove on to an isolated place behind the station, where he raped her.

“Police later found the girl and are searching for the driver,” Yemen Today said.

Kenya Moore Caught up in Charity Scandal

Kenya Moore has been accused of failing to forward money she raised at a charity event to the actual charity - "Saving Our Daughters."

If you watched the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kenya Moore hosted a masquerade Ball to honor Nene Leakes, with "Saving Our Daughters" as the recipient of the proceeds from the charity event. The charity was not aware that the event was in honor of Nene, who is a great supporter and contributor to their organization, and neither was Nene.

At the end of the show, Ms Kenya announced that they had raised thousands of dollars at the event. Now get this...the charity just released an official statement confirming that they never received any of the proceeds raised from Ms. Moore’s masquerade ball.

Fatal road accidents are on the rise in Dubai and they are blaming it on citizens of other countries. According to their statistics, this is the second year in a row that these nationalities have been proven to cause mayhem in Dubai.

According to the Dubai traffic police, citizens of Pakistan, India, Emiratis, Bangladesh and Egypt are solely responsible for 1,128 accidentsin which 101 people died.

Nigeria Congratulates their own Chiwetel Ojiofor

On Sunday 16th February 2014, British-Nigerian actor Chiwetel Ejiofor beat Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and Christian Bale, to win the "Best Actor" award at the 2014 British Film Academy Film Awards (BAFTAS).

To celebrate his first major award win, the Enugu State Government - where his father is from, took a full page advertisement slot in The Nation newspaper .

The ad was to congratulate “our brother”.

On the contrary, Chiwetel was on the Ellen DeGeneres show a few weeks back and  was asked where he was from and said he was British! Here's how the conversation went:

Ellen DeGeneres: Where are you from?
Chiwetel: I'm from London
Ellen DeGeneres: Originally from London?
Chiwetel: Yeah, but my family is Nigerian!!!
